This exhibition presents the #art4peace campaign, launched this September as part of the Talking Peace Festival.
We believe that art can be a powerful tool for inspiring change, as it can allow people to express themselves, change perceptions and create empathy – especially where words fail.
With this in mind, we invited artists to bring this idea onto the streets of London and, using all their creativity, present the language of peace in a fresh and challenging way. The art was created and displayed in different spaces across East London for the public to engage with, serving to communicate, educate and stimulate curiosity about conflict and peace.
More than 30 talented artists took part in the campaign, including: Yoko Ono, 616, Hannah Adamaszek, Victor Ash, Pure Evil, Magnus Gjoen, KEF!, Dan Kitchener, Jim McElvaney, Adrián Morales Rodríguez, Benjamin Murphy, Tarek Tuma and Andrea Tyrimos.
The exhibition ends with a live auction on 3 October (7pm), all proceeds from which will go towards International Alert. To attend the auction, RSVP today at www.art4peace.eventbrite.co.uk (free with RSVP. £5 on the door).
